May 16th 2009:

Closeburn Rural Fire Brigade in conjunction with the surrounding Brigades, QFRS,MBRC,Powerlink & other Agencies will be conducting a significant Hazard Reduction Burn in the Closeburn area.

Inspection of the area revealed quite heavy fuel loads & a number of exposures (both homes,outbuildings & Infrastructure) that mean a reduction in the fuel load is essential.

After consultation with the local landowners & the concerned agencies we have decided to proceed (weather permitting.)on the 16th of May 2009 from approx 2pm until the site is made safe.

Local residents are warned that there will be a large number of emergency service vehicles in the area & smoke may be an issue for the later part of the day & evening.
